Beefmaster Breeders United
Tom Lasater, founder of the Beefmaster breed, used Hereford, Shorthorn, and Brahman cattle to form the perfect three-way cross that was superior to other cattle. Beefmaster cattle, recognized as a breed by the United States Department of Agriculture in 1954, were selected following Lasater’s six essentials. The six essentials consist of disposition, fertility, weight, conformation, milk production and hardiness. Beefmaster breeders continue to strive for the Standard of Excellence by using the six essentials.
